Preparation:
Leading on from my last shoot, I wanted to show another example of how we have a destructive world and conflict destroys the world, even many years on. To do this is will like to shoot the remains of a prisoner of war camp in Hatfield heath. This camp is broken down and is unpleasent to look at. There has been many arguments on whether it should be knocked down and built on but many people do not want to touch it due to the history behind it. This highlightd how conflict is permenant in lives and can change the future but it important to remember in order to not repeat.Research:
Eadweard Muybridge:
Eadweard Muybridge was an English-American photographer important for his pioneering work in photographic studies of motion, and early work in motion-picture projection. He adopted the first name Eadweard as the original Anglo-Saxon form of Edward, and the surname Muybridge, believing it to be similarly archaic.In 1874 Muybridge shot and killed Major Harry Larkyns, his wife's lover, but was acquitted in a jury trial on the grounds of justifiable homicide.I like Muybride's photos because they show the destruction war has left and the ruins of a once beautiful place. This photos make the viewer quite emotional as the dark tones and little colour presents a dark time and a horrible event. From this research I have found that i would like to edit my photos in a black and white effect to create more tension.

When I turned up at the camp I found that there was a fence put all aound it and a sign for trespassing, so I had to figure out a way to get the fence out of the way. The first photo is the first attempt to take a photo, but it had the fence in focus so cant be used. I then went on to put the lense closer to the fence and my camera auto focused the fence out to make the photos look clear. The next two photos are when i stood on a fence to try to get a higher view. However, I didnt have a tripod so my photos were shaky.Editing &AO2:
One aspect of my photos i wanted to improve through my edit would be the tones in my images. My photos weren't miserable looking enough, to make this better I will edit my photos into black and white and use tonal ranges like Muybridge uses. I also went on to edit my photos but editing the curves and levels to add more depth and contrast.

I think my shoot went well and reflected my idea of a destructive world very well. My research of Eadweard Muybridge was helpful in my work as I edited my photos in order to give the same miserable and olden effect that he used. The images came out as I expected, however I wish I was able to get closer to get more detailed pictures- which i couldn't do due to trespassing. I wanted my photos to show how war can damage and make land look unpleasant even years later, to convey how ugly damaged buildings are replacing a once beautiful landscape. They way the bulidings are damaged highlight the horrible conflict that happened there. The materials used are also damaging to the earth. I think my images have portrayed this in many ways.

I hope my artist research is shown throughout my images, with similarities of olden buildings. However, the effect is a bit different due to not being taken on film. I think my research of abandoned and broken buildings help me also as it meant I was able to find the camp. It also helped as I knew how other photographers took photos of derelict places and was able to figure out the image I wanted to create.AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
I believe that I have produced a strong series of images inspired by my research of a destructive world and the images of Edward Muybridge. The final images I have edited present a destructive world in different ways. The use of materials in the camp are destructive to the world and the camp itself show how the world in the past has been destructive and had conflict.
